Dog owners enjoy increased physical activity and time in the great outdoors, whilst all pet owners can enjoy companionship. Our best friends, our pets can help to prevent loneliness by giving owners a routine and sense of purpose. And it’s been proven that cuddling or stroking a pet releases endorphins; those so-called happy hormones, that not only make us feel better but can also lower blood pressure.
Pets are also a superb role model for us too. They live a carefree live, free from worry, exercise every day, drink only water and enjoy a healthy diet. It can really help to put things into perspective when things aren’t perhaps going as you planned.
A little time or money
If you don’t have the time or the space to care for a pet of your own, but love spending time with animals, there are other ways in which you can enjoy the company of animals. There are plenty of charities such as RSPCA, and many local independent ones too, that would be delighted to accept offers of help.
Many also struggle financially, so you could explore the possibilities of making a small monthly donation to help feed and care for the animals that have been rescued.
Serenity Pets
Cats, dogs, and their humans love the peace and tranquillity of our park at Kingsdown Meadow, and whilst some are happy for a gentle stroll around the park, the picturesque North Downs Way is just opposite giving those who prefer a longer walk some wonderful scenery to enjoy.
Just take a look at Phoebe below, who is totally relaxed in her new home and loves to follow the sun whilst chillaxing!
